Popcorn, popcorn, popcorn
Thank you to all of the sweet kids who bought popcorn in this morning's Gourmet Popcorn day.
You bought 6 boxes of popcorn for you and your friends (West Haven Hawks are awesome friends), we are getting closer to meeting the fundraising goal for next years activities - yippee!👍
We will be starting our "second round" fundraiser next week. This will be your chance to earn some extra time at field day. NO LINES for you!!
We still have about 150 boxes of popcorn left to sell but WE CAN DO IT!!!!
This is the info from flyer that will be coming home.
Popcorn is $2 a bag and there are 30 in a box it comes in 3 flavors, carmel, cheddar and kettle (for a laugh try saying that 3 times fast when selling it).

There will be a permission slip at the bottom of the flyer, you will need to have a guardian sign agreeing to be responsible to return money for the popcorn sold OR unopened bags of popcorn if you can't sell it all.
Turn the money / popcorn in ON OR BEFORE MAY 11th - make sure you put your name on your popcorn money envelope.

Movie Night
Movie night is an activity that the whole family can come to. Bring your blankets and pillows and come have a great time. There is no charge to come to the movie and we will even have some inexpensive treats so you don't have to worry about dinner if you don't want to.
To make sure everyone is safe and has a fun time kids must bring an adult with them to the activity.

Soaring Hawks Fun Run
West Haven Elementary families!
Today our Soaring Hawks Fun Run kicked off with an exciting Pep Rally! Register your student on funrun.com, using our school’s registration code 574-482 or by searching for our school name. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for playground equipment and we need your help! Your student is coming home with a Pledge Crown today, where you can learn more about helping our school through the Fun Run. November is Healthy Lifestyles Month
The Healthy Lifestyles Initiative provides PTAs with education and tools to partner with schools and advocate for healthy changes in nutrition and physical activity. In a healthy school:
- All foods, beverages and snacks sold or served meet National School Nutrition Standards.
- All students have opportunities to be physically active on a regular basis.
- All students have access to regular physical education.
- District wide wellness policies are developed, implemented and evaluated with input from students, parents, staff and interested community members.
What PTAs Can Do
- Support Healthy School Meals
- Advocate for more physical activity and physical education in schools
- Establish School Wellness Policies
- Model positive health behaviors at your PTA meetings and fundraisers
- Participate in National PTA's Healthy Lifestyles Month

Red Ribbon Week
Did you know that the best way to keep kids off drugs is to talk to them about the dangers of drug use? The best way to prevent bullying is to talk to them about what it is and how to prevent it, the best way to help them make good choices is to model good choice making.
Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers, Friends and Family. Together we can make a BIG difference in the lives of our WEST HAVEN HAWKS!
Red Ribbon Week Activities are fun and silly but their real purpose is to bring up topics that need to be discussed.
